Is the gas boiler making noise? It is necessary to find out the reasons: they depend on whether the new equipment or has been in operation for several years. To find out why the column is buzzing, hissing or buzzing, we will examine its structure and features of the work.
The principle of operation of the gas column
A column or a flow heater, as it is called, is a metal box (casing). Two pipes for supplying water and gas are supplied to it. The main structural elements are:
- Radiator (water flows through it).
- Main and pilot burners (used to heat the fluid in the radiator).
When the user opens the mixer, the valve opens and passes gas into the burner. It ignites, the gas heats the heat exchanger. Combustion products are discharged through the chimney and ventilation.
Noise reasons
Due to the principle of operation of the equipment, you can hear a little noise, it crackles. Sounds may be amplified if the room is not adequately ventilated. Nothing wrong with that.
Does the appliance make sounds when turning on hot water or heating? When you draw in water, you can feel the vibration, because the flow passes through the pipes, turns, passes through obstacles. To reduce the noise level, you can adjust the water supply knob.Scrolling it, listen: as soon as the sound vibrations are reduced, leave in this position.
When starting, you hear a pop
Do you start a technique and hear a pop? Does the device twitch and vibrate? So, there were problems with the gas supply. When starting up, fuel accumulates in the working part: when the amount of air or gas is in accordance with the norm, pops should not be heard.
Excessive amounts of gas lead to a volume explosion when the fuel hits the wall violently at the bend. This can happen with overpressure in the system.
Such problems can even lead to the breakdown of the chimney. Therefore, contact a service center or try to fix them yourself.
- Turn off the gas and water.
- Remove the equipment cover: pull the handle towards you, unscrew the two screws.
- Inspect the fuel supply system and burner. Clean the parts from dirt. How to clean the gas column, read the previous article.
- Remove the two screws on the burner tab.
- Inspect the condition of the nozzle. If it is clogged, clean it.
The column buzzed and rustled
The main reason is bad traction. To check it, light a match and bring it to the hole. If the flame deviates to the side, as from an air stream, the draft is in order. If not, the chimney channel is clogged with soot and soot, which are produced during the combustion process. Need to clean it.
Poor ventilation also enhances noise. This often happens after installing plastic windows. The bags are so airtight that natural ventilation becomes impossible.
What to do if the appliance is cracking? Similar is possible with clogged nozzle (nozzle) of the burner. It is necessary to disassemble, as described above, and clean them.
If your column is turned on by electric ignition, the reasons may be:
- Similar devices operate on batteries. When they are discharged, the fuel burns poorly or does not light up at all. Clicks may be heard. In this case, replace the batteries.
- Flow control sensor defective. Most often, its contacts are oxidized under the influence of moisture. You can try to strip the contacts, but it is better to replace the sensor.
- The spark does not light up. The candle, which is responsible for the fire, has shifted, so the process does not end. Reinstall the candle, resume the process.
- The ignition retarder does not work. Remove part and shake. In this case, the noise of rolling the ball in the housing should be heard. If nothing is heard, the ball is stuck or displaced. Put it back in place with wire.
Thundering new equipment? Perhaps the reason is not in the boiler, but in the installation error. To find out, examine all the connections, the correct connection. It may also be:
- Air duct leak. Air enters not only through the main hole, but also through the hole. Therefore, the noise is amplified.
- Incorrect burner placement. Perhaps it has shifted and cannot cope with burning the entire volume of gas. You need to install it in place.
Gas boiler whistles
If the product whistles and squeaks, you need to find out where the sound comes from. What to do:
- Shut off the gas supply.
- Open the mixer in the “hot” position.
- Did the whistle increase? So, the problems lie in the water path. The main reason is scaling on the parts of the heat exchanger or on pipes, clogging. It is necessary to clean all the elements in order to resume the performance of the equipment and eliminate the cause of the whistle. By returning the water, the pipes can be cleaned from clogging.
- If the whistling sound disappears when you open the tap, it’s the gas path. There is probably a defect in the valve that controls the strength of the flame. A whistle may appear when the power is increased. Try turning the control until the sound disappears. Does not help? Then the matter is a blockage of the tract. It is necessary to disassemble and clean the device.
If you notice such problems in your technique, you can try to deal with the problems yourself. But it is better to contact a service center, especially with a valid warranty card. Employees will repair or remove defective equipment.
