If, as usual, you put powder and loaded the laundry, turned on the machine, and water did not go into the drum, washing will not start.
If the machine does not draw water, the problem should be solved without delay. Next, we will consider the reasons why water does not enter the drum of the washing machine, and suggest effective methods for resolving the problem.
Search for causes and verification
Not the fact that the water does not fill up due to some kind of breakdown. First, eliminate the elementary reasons that may cause the drum to run out of water:
- Check the water supply in the water system. A washing machine usually has its own valve, which opens and blocks the access of water. Perhaps someone twisted it by mistake or by negligence.
- Check the integrity of the inlet hose. It could burst (then you find a puddle at the typewriter) or clogged. Bending is also possible with improper installation.
Remove the laundry from the drum and unplug the appliance, then check the faucet and the integrity of the hose. - Is everything alright with the water supply and set hose? Turn off the machine and try to understand why water does not flow, or call a specialist.
Why is there no water in the drum
The first reason that water is not supplied to the CM drum is because the intake valve is clogged. It accumulates small debris from the water supply system, which is held by a special mesh filter.
The filter is mounted on the outside of the SMA housing, immediately in front of the inlet valve. To get to it, you need to unscrew the inlet hose.
Attention! Unscrew the intake hose by hand, do not use tools, so as not to damage the plastic fasteners. It is more convenient to remove the filter itself with pliers - it is deeply seated in the groove.
After removing the mesh, rinse it under the tap and clean it with an old toothbrush, then reinstall it. The hose also does not hurt to rinse from possible clogging, but at the same time inspect for bends and cracks.
If checking and cleaning the filter did not bring the expected results, and the test wash showed that water still does not get into the drum, this could be a more serious malfunction.
Possible breakdowns
The drum is not filled with water for a number of reasons, often an empty tank is accompanied by an error code on the machine's display or a combination of flashing lights. If you haven’t taken the user guide far, you will quickly figure out what triggered the problem.
Consider the main reasons:
- Damage to the intake valve - it could “burn out”. The wash will not start until you replace the item.
To replace the valve, you must remove the top cover of the machine. Under it, you will find coils that core or block the flow of water.
On a note! The solenoid valve is usually not repairable.
- Damage to the control board in machines with electronic control. In mechanical SMA, the programmer breaks. Water does not flow due to the fact that the control unit does not send a signal for water intake. The module must be “flashed” or changed to a new one.
Important! If replacing a module is not the most difficult repair operation, then its firmware requires experience, equipment and a special tool. The board is an expensive part, so trust the mechanic so as not to cost the repair.
- Damage to the pressure switch - level sensor (pressure). If the sensor breaks, the machine does not evaluate how much water is coming in or not, which means the wash does not start. The sensor must be replaced - it cannot be repaired.
- Damage to the blocker. If the UBL breaks down, then the corresponding lamp will light on the control panel. In this case, water does not accumulate and the washing does not start for your own safety.
UBL is also not repaired - it needs to be changed. About how to change the lock in the washing machine, we wrote in previous articles.
Important! Perhaps it’s not a breakdown of the lock, but the fact that you have loosely closed the door. Try closing the hatch again and restarting the wash. Also, in addition to UBL, hinges could loosen on the door or the tongue of the lock itself could be bent.
We recommend that you start an independent repair only if you have repair skills. And if you see the screwdriver and tester for the first time, call the service, and the problem will be fixed quickly and professionally.
