A residential building made of logs looks very natural and has a special charm. When choosing such a construction option, it is usually assumed that the interior decoration of houses from logs will be minimal. The noble tree does not require any special decorations, and therefore, when decorating this type of country houses inside, owners should choose mostly natural, environmentally friendly materials, avoiding modern “synthetics”. It is beneficial to emphasize the attractiveness of the wooden finish - this is the most important thing that you have to do.
It is best to start finishing no earlier than 12 months after the end of the construction of the log house - during this time the main shrinkage of the house will occur.
Decorating a house from logs is a responsible and multi-stage process. It is extremely important from the very beginning to decide how you want to see the interiors of your suburban housing in the end. It is hardly worth decorating the rooms in a log house with the help of a huge number of non-wooden structures - wooden buildings are erected primarily in order to enjoy subsequently a special microclimate, to be closer to nature. So, our attention should be directed, first of all, to the finishing materials made of natural wood.
Arrangements for arranging interiors in a log house can be divided into several stages. It is important to follow the specified sequence of actions in order to carry out all the necessary work in the shortest possible time and to avoid possible problems.
Log home decorative decoration: preparatory work
Where to start finishing work inside the building from logs? It is based on numerous preparatory work, including:
- Grinding log walls. This work is performed using a grinder using a multi-grain sandpaper. This will make it possible to remove the top layer of the tree and make the walls more even;
- Surface treatment of walls and ceilings with special antiseptic compounds that give the tree reliable protection against bark beetles and other harmful insects, as well as from a variety of fungi and microorganisms. A high-quality antiseptic penetrates quickly into the surface of a tree, while at the same time, without compromising the environmental characteristics of this building material;
- Treatment of walls, floors and ceilings with flame retardants. These are special compounds that significantly improve the ability of a tree to withstand open fire. Please note: with such means it is extremely important to treat all wooden surfaces, since, as you know, this material is very flammable.
Installation of communications
Before starting interior work in a house that is built of logs, it is very important to think over and install all the communication systems you need. First of all, make the wiring in the sewer and water supply building, and also equip the heating system. Subsequently, the pipes can be perfectly masked by materials for wall decoration.
Particular emphasis is on laying electrical networks. It must be technically competent, this condition applies to any home, but in a wooden building, where the risk of fire is extremely high - this is especially important.
Flooring
After laying communications, it is time to tackle the floor of your log home. The arrangement of the floor is carried out with thorough thermal insulation, as well as waterproofing.
In a building made of logs, floors are usually arranged on logs. This work is rather complicated and time-consuming. Even at the stage of construction of a residential log house for installing such a floor before laying crowns, you should worry about installing beams. Along the crown of the house in the logs, in the places where the beams will be installed, grooves are made using a chainsaw. Next, the beams are treated with an antiseptic to avoid the appearance of rot and tightly set in place. Further on the beams, a rough floor is laid: it can be made from boards or from plywood. After that, you can continue the construction of the walls of the house.
As for decorative materials for decorating the floor surface, it is worth using natural materials in log buildings - wooden parquet is preferred, but you can choose a laminate as a budget option. In humid rooms, a screed is made on the rough floor, on which a special floor ceramic tile is subsequently laid.
Wall decoration
An ideal option for decorating the internal walls of a building built of logs is a lining. This is quite popular today, environmentally friendly material, which does not violate the special microclimate of a wooden building. In addition, the lining is practical and very easy to install. Such finishing material is installed on a special frame, which it is quite possible to make with your own hands from wooden bars. You can fix the lining on the walls with nails, followed by camouflage with the help of decorative battens or with the use of special fastening material - kleimers. Pay attention to several important points:
- before installation, the lining is necessarily varnished;
- the material must be treated with antiseptic agents for long-term effective protection against destruction, fungi, etc .;
- insulation material can be installed in the frame for lining - mineral (stone) wool is especially often used for thermal insulation of rooms from the inside.
To decorate the walls of the hallway or hall in the house from logs, you can use the material that is no less popular today - MDF panels. For their installation, it is also necessary to equip the frame from wooden bars, in which the insulation should be laid. If you want to stick wallpaper or paint the walls, drywall comes to the rescue. It, unlike lining or MDF panels, is mounted on a metal frame. The convenience of drywall lies in the fact that this material can be used to create various arches, openings of an unusual shape, niches with lighting and other interesting decorative elements. Moisture-resistant drywall is recommended for bathrooms: it can quickly and easily lay ceramic tiles. But cheap, but far from the definition of "natural and environmentally friendly" plastic panels in a wooden house should not be used - they will certainly violate the current microclimate.
Finishing the ceilings in log buildings
When decorating the ceiling in a house made of logs, it is also necessary to adhere to the rule: the more natural the finish, the better. A logical option for interiors where wood is preferred is the ceiling made of this natural material. The most popular solution is lining. Such material is fastened to a pre-prepared frame of wooden bars, insulation can be laid in the frame, along the perimeter of the ceiling, the fastening places are closed with a wooden plinth. It is also worth paying attention to other methods of "wooden" finish: panels made of veneer or solid wood. Their cost will be higher than the cost of lining, but in appearance the difference is significant: wooden panels look expensive, soundly. The panels, like the lining, have a lock connection, and a wooden plinth is attached around the perimeter after installation.
Snow-white plasterboard ceilings will help to make the interiors of a log home more “light”. Working with this material is simple and convenient, but it is relatively inexpensive. To equip the ceiling from plasterboard, a metal frame is created in which a heater is laid. Then the surface is sewn up with drywall, the joints of the sheets are putty, and then the entire surface is leveled with putty and, finally, the ceiling is painted with water-based paint.
